You Promise?

 "This will be forever."

"I love you the most and I always will."

"I will quit smoking."

"I will study hard."

"I will earn honest money. "

" I will enjoy my life's each second."

What were these? Eternal promises that every day people make to each other in all parts of the world. Some are about love, some are about your goals but why is it so hard to keep these promises? Why do flames draw us like moths and we, who should fly towards the sky like an eagle, fly to that flame like a helpless limp?

Is it because our promises are weak? Well, promises, if weak, would never have been made. Each time a person makes a promise, he does so knowing that he is saying to do something that will be requiring too much of dedication and heart because if that would've been something easier, there was no space for a 'Promise'. Then? Why do promises that a person makes to others or to himself fall apart and shatter like a house of cards?

It happens when there enters a distraction into the picture. And not all distractions are able to barge in to the haven of a happy promise...it's the bigger ones, the ones that weigh more than the determination for that promise had weighed once. So, now we know that it depends on the anatomy of the distraction, its magnitude–if it's a pebble in a glass, the promise stays; however if it is like a rock in the latter, the promise cracks and explodes in a million tiny pieces...each piece bouncing back and hitting every person who wasn't a part of the promise but will now face the repercussions equally. So, what one should do? Stop making promises, just because they simply can't be kept?

The answer is 'No!' Promises give us a sense of security, an assurance, which could sometimes bring a smile over somebody's face. We just have to stop breaking hearts with promises that break. We have to tell our hearts–so what if this broke? An another, much improved promise is coming my way –with more enlightenment and more happiness. But this heart, which is fragile and loses a part of its empathy every time it gets broken shouldn't be allowed to break with this promise...what if it's completely not worth it and the next that comes would require a bigger cushion? Then shall this saving of today come to use. By doing this not only are we going to build a castle out of all the bricks they threw at us but will also be getting ourselves a blotter that might be needed for a promise which will be worth breaking our heart– and who knows such promises might not exist then.
